The Society operates through a governing council of scientists and engineers drawn from universities, national laboratories and industry across India, supported by its 30 local chapters and a membership roster reported at over 1,140 in 2025, including 43 institutional members and 15 honorary foreign fellows.
Council administration — committees, office-bearer composition and election cycles — is maintained at Secretariat level and coordinated through the Society's Secretariat email and telephone, which are the verified public channels.
